DAILY GOSPEL READING | MAY 31, 2020

DAILY GOSPEL READING | MAY 31, 2020 Solemnity of Pentecost (John 20:19-23) 19  On the evening of that first day of the week,  when the doors were locked, where the disciples [ a ]  were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.”  20  When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. [ b ]  The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.   21  [ c ] [Jesus] said to them again,  “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”  22  [ d ] And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them,  “Receive the holy Spirit.  23  [ e ] Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”

PAGBASA NG EBANGHELYO (Tagalog) | MAYO 31, 2020

Ating alamin! Ayon sa Catechism of the Catholic Church: Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition,  the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation : the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation;  he is present to us in his body which is the Church.  He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, an

DAILY GOSPEL READING | MAY 30, 2020

DAILY GOSPEL READING | MAY 30,2020 Saturday of the Seventh Week of Easter   Peter turned and saw the disciple following whom Jesus loved, the one who had also reclined upon his chest during the supper and had said, “Master, who is the one who will betray you?”   21  When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about him?”  22  Jesus said to him, “What if I want him to remain until I come? [ a ]  What concern is it of yours? You follow me.”   23  [ b ] So the word spread among the brothers that that disciple would not die. But Jesus had not told him that he would not die, just “What if I want him to remain until I come? [What concern is it of yours?]”  24  It is this disciple who testifies to these things and has written them, [ c ]  and we know that his testimony is true.   25  There are also many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that would be written.

DAILY GOSPEL READING | MAY 29, 2020 Friday of the Seventh Week of Easter (John 21:15-19) 15  When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, [ a ]  “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” [ b ]  He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”  16  He then said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.”  17  He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” [Jesus] said to him, “Feed my sheep.   18  [ c ] Amen, amen, I say to you,  when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”  19  He said

DAILY GOSPEL READING | MAY 28, 2020 Thursday of the Seventh Week of Easter (John 17:20-26) “I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,  21  so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.   22  And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one,  23  I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me.  24  Father, they are your gift to me. I wish that where I am [ a ]  they also may be with me, that they may see my glory that you gave me, because you loved me before the foundation of the world.   25  Righteous Father, the world also does not know you, but I know you, and they know that you sent me.   26  I made known to them your name and I will make it known, [ b ]  that the love with which yo

DAILY GOSPEL READING | MAY 27, 2020

DAILY GOSPEL READING | MAY 27, 2020 Wednesday of the Seventh Week of Easter (John 17:11b-19) Holy Father, keep them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are.  12  When I was with them I protected them in your name that you gave me, and I guarded them, and none of them was lost except the son of destruction, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled.   13  But now I am coming to you. I speak this in the world so that they may share my joy completely.   14  I gave them your word, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world.   15  [ a ] I do not ask that you take them out of the world  but that you keep them from the evil one.  16  They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world.  17  Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth.   18  As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world.   19  And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be con

THE ROLE OF CHURCH AND STATE by John Rey Lumagui

But, they are not and should not.   In the purpose of their existence, one common denominator exists— for the sake of the happiness of the people. There are two types of happiness; temporal and eternal. Temporal happiness is the happiness that we can obtain while here on earth whereas, eternal happiness is something we can obtain after our combat here on earth. We can obtain the latter in our after life with God in heaven. The purpose of the state is to ensure the temporal happiness of its people. On the other hand, the ultimate goal of the church is to

DAILY GOSPEL READING | MAY 26, 2020

DAILY GOSPEL READING | MAY 26, 2020 Tuesday, St. Philip Neri, priest. (John 17:1-11) When Jesus had said this, he raised his eyes to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your son, so that your son may glorify you,  just as you gave him authority over all people,  so that he may give eternal life to all you gave him.  Now this is eternal life,  that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.   I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do.  Now glorify me, Father, with you, with the glory that I had with you before the world began. “I revealed your name to those whom you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.  Now they know that everything you gave me is from you,  because the words you gave to me I have given to them, and they accepted them and truly understood that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me.  I pray fo

BAKIT TINATAWAG NG MGA KATOLIKO SI MARIA NA 'INA NG DIYOS'? | Ating Alamin

2. [Ano ang batayan ng dogmang ito?

DAILY GOSPEL READINGS | MAY 25, 2020

DAILY GOSPEL READINGS | MAY 25, 2020 Monday of the Seventh Week of Easter (John 16:29-33) His disciples said, “Now you are talking plainly, and not in any figure of speech.  Now we realize that you know everything and that you do not need to have anyone question you. Because of this we believe that you came from God.”   Jesus answered them, “Do you believe now?  Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived when each of you will be scattered to his own home and you will leave me alone. But I am not alone, because the Father is with me.  I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.”

GOSPEL READING | MAY 24, 2020

MATTHEW 28:16-20 (Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord) The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them.  When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.  Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit,   teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
